2 Arrested, 2 Wanted After Police Chase Through Oakland Park

Two suspects were taken into custody and authorities are searching for two others after a police chase involving a stolen vehicle Monday.

The police car chase turned into a foot race through the streets of Oakland Park. Four suspects bailed out of a stolen car to make a run for it.

Aerial footage showed two of them as they quickly got into a second car outside of a nearby apartment complex on 19th Street near Northwest 38th Avenue. They got about a mile away to Lauderhill where they bailed out of a blue SUV. Police were close behind running full speed.

An area resident said one of the suspects ran right into her neighbor, frightening her.

"She was walking the dog and then he unexpectedly ran up to her. She was still shaken up and scared and she said police told her to get inside," Betty Samai explained.

With the first suspect in police custody, another one kept running, through backyards and over several fences. Minutes later, he surrendered to a K-9 officer.

One of the two suspects in custody was taken away in an ambulance.

"I walked out the door and saw the helicopters and my heart dropped because my little brother is hurt right now," one man said, claiming to be the injured suspect's brother. "I don't know anything about a carjacking or car stolen, my little brother is good. He's been out for two years strong. He's been doing good lately."

As detectives combed the second crime scene for clues, they cleared the scene from the first bailout.

The first car is what tipped officers off to the group in the first place. Lighthouse Point Police ran the tag using license recognition cameras to find it was stolen.

Investigators are still searching for the remaining two suspects who evaded police.
