Police Continue Searching for Fort Lauderdale Mom

As authorities continue to look for Trukita Scott, the mother of the man Scott’s family believes is behind Trukita’s disappearance is defending her son.

“A person is innocent until proven guilty,” said Ms. Ellison, the mother of Carl Watts. “That’s all I have to say about that on my son and that if I knew where my son was, I would have him contact me, or contact the detective.”

Scott, 24, has been missing for almost a week. Her family became concerned last week when she failed to pick up her children from day care. Scott’s family told NBC 6 last Friday they believe Watts is behind Trukita’s disappearance.

“I know he has my child,” Trukita’s mom Kengeral Allen Scott said of her daughter’s ex-boyfriend Carl Watts. “Because of the threats he made against my child. He is constantly following her. Told her if he couldn’t have her, no one else would.”

Watts is no stranger to the family or to law enforcement. Just a few weeks ago, he was shown on surveillance video allegedly trying to kidnap a high school girl from a bus stop in Fort Lauderdale. Watts also has three previous kidnapping charges and Trukita’s family said they can’t find any sign of him.

“We spoke to him briefly,” Trukita’s father Charles Scott said. “He hung up the phone. He wouldn’t answer the phone. He hasn’t checked about his son. He took off.”

Ms. Ellison told NBC 6 she has no more information.

“I do not know where my son is,” Ellison said. "If I did, I would get in my car, and I would go and find my son, and bring him here to clear his name."

Trukita's mom had just one message for her daughter and anyone who might be involved in her disappearance, "Please, come home. Please, let my baby go."

If you have any information that might help find Trukita, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
