Police Identify Suspects in New Year's Eve Shootout with Cops

Police have identified the suspect shot and killed in a shootout with officers on New Year's Eve in Miami.

Miramar police say they shot and killed Eric Forbes, 28, near NW 68th Street and 6th Avenue in Miami, after he and another man, Stacy Williams, also 28, led police on a chase.

The two men were inside a car police suspected of being used in a robbery of a Western Union, according to police. The car's license plate was registered to a home in Miramar.

When police tried to stop the car, the drivers fled, leading police on a chase into Miami, police say.

As the chase ended, Forbes and Williams tried to flee on foot and shot at officers, according to police.

Miramar police said at least one officer returned fire, fatally wounding Forbes. Williams was apprehended and is being held without bond.
