Police Interrogation Tape Shows Man Charged With Girlfriend's Murder, Mutilation

New documents and police videos are revealing more information about the night a Sunrise man allegedly murdered his girlfriend and mutilated her body after authorities said she called out the name of her ex-husband during sex.

Fidel Lopez, 25, was charged last September with first-degree murder in the killing of 31-year-old Maria Nemeth. He's pleaded not guilty and is being held without bond as he awaits trial.

NBC 6 has obtained some of the material prosecutors are using in the case, including a video taken by crime scene investigators.

The video shows blood on the walls in the closet, a closet door knocked down, blood on the walls and in the bathroom too in the home on Northwest 128th Drive. It was the place her boyfriend told the 911 operator she was located when he called in a panic last year.

"She's not breathing. She's not breathing. She's gonna die," Lopez said during the 911 call. "She's not breathing. Send the ambulance."

Police took photos of Lopez too as they searched for answers as to why he went into such an incredible rage. The video inside the couple's apartment where they had lived together for just a week shows what police say was his uncontrollable anger.

"I just remember seeing glass on the floor, I really don't remember when I break it, or why I break it, you know. To be honest with you, I really don't, don't remember," Lopez tells a detective in an interrogation video shortly after he was arrested.

"Any damage in the house, I did it, I know it wasn't her," he continued. ""I take the responsibility for whatever holes and everything broken there, I did it, I know I did it, she'd never do that."

The detective asked why he damaged the home.

"That's the problem, I don't know why, we were drinking, I don't know why," Lopez said.

The detective said he wanted to know why Lopez snapped and asked if they liked to drink.

"We like to drink, I don't consider myself an alcoholic but I like to drink, I like to have my beer every once in awhile, you know when we moved here, all this day we've been drinking," Lopez said.

At another point an officer asks: "Did she want to do anything to you, sexually, that was kind of crazy, that maybe made you angry?"

"Maybe she want to do something but no, I don't think so man, she knows I'm a man," Lopez said.

Police said ultimately Lopez told them he was drinking tequila and a bottle of the liquor was found in the apartment. Detectives say inside the closet during sex Nemeth twice called out her ex-husband's name.

"When I do that it's because I'm pissed, I don't know what makes me pissed," Lopez said of the tequila. "Maybe she was talking about her ex-husband or something."

Lopez is due back in court in November.
