Police Investigate After Man Gunned Down in Miami-Dade

Woman says victim pounded on her door

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Southwest Miami-Dade early Friday.

Officers responding to calls of a man in distress on the 6700 block of Southwest 15th St. around 4:45 a.m. found the 37-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Taimy Roman, who lives on the block, said the victim came pounding on her door, probably for help, but she thought he may have been a burglar.

"I'm screaming 'I'm gonna call 911, I'm gonna call 911,' and by the time I called 911, the police were pulling up to my house," Roman said. "They saw the man on my next door neighbor's house outside on the floor."

The unidentified man was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say at this point it's a bit of a murder mystery. They don't know who shot the man or why.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
