Police-Involved Shooting Follows Bank Robbery: Cops

The off-ramp to I-95 was shut down at 151st Street as police investigated.

Authorities said they were investigating a police-involved shooting death related to a bank robbery in Northwest Miami-Dade Monday morning.

FBI officials said a Wells Fargo bank at 800 North Miami Beach Boulevard had been robbed shortly before the shooting incident. Police said at the same time the bank was being robbed, a North Miami Beach Robbery Suppression team was in the area.

Detectives were able to get a description of the vehicle and the car was seen a short time later along Northwest 151st Street at I-95. Witnesses told NBC 6 that police cruisers cut off the car that was allegedly involved in the shooting.

At that point, witnesses said the man got out of the car and multiple shots were fired. When the shooting ended, the suspect was dead. A female accomplice was driving the car, but was unhurt in the shooting. She is currently in FBI custody.

Thomas Jefferson Middle School was placed on lockdown as a result of the shooting and the off-ramp at I-95 was shut down at 151st Street while police investigated.

The FBI said no one at the bank was injured during the robbery.
