Police Investigating Car Break-Ins Inside Miami-Dade, Miami Beach Fire Rescue Stations

Police are investigating reports of several cars being broken into in the parking lot of a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue station.

Officers arrived at Station 7, located on NW 94th Street and 22nd Avenue in Little River, shortly after 6 a.m. following a call about the break-ins once crews returned from a scene.

"It's a pretty busy house so typically we run anywhere after midnight," said Captain Hector Alfonso. "It's a tough world out there, but unfortunately it was our turn."

Police have not released any information on possible suspects or what was taken, with Fire Rescue PIO Lt. Felipe Lay saying that between five and six cars were involved.

Detectives say this is the second time in the last month that cars have been broken into while inside one of the county's fire stations. Looters broke into a station in Northwest Miami-Dade and stole fire equipment from three trucks.

Another set of burglaries was reported at a Miami Beach station, where 10 vehicles were broken into between 3 and 4 a.m. at the station off Indian Creek Drive.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
