High-Priced Jewelry Heist Foiled on Miami Beach

Police are investigating after thieves nearly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry during an attempted armed robbery in Miami Beach Tuesday.

The incident happened just after 9 a.m. at the parking garage on 67th Street between Collins Avenue and Indian Creek Drive.

According to police, two men were walking to their car, while one of them was holding two bags containing a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of jewelry.

As the man who wasn't holding the bags walked ahead, a vehicle pulled alongside the other man and a suspect wearing a ski mask and holding a knife took the two bags, police said.

The other victim saw what was happening, got in his car and rammed the suspect's vehicle from behind. Three other suspects were also in the vehicle.

The impact caused the suspect to drop the bags and all four suspects fled, police said. The bags were recovered at the scene.

Police said they're searching for the suspects, who were in a newer model silver Nissan Altima that should have rear damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
