Buildings Evacuated as Police Investigate Possible Bomb Threat in Miami

Miami-Dade County Children's Courthouse evacuated

Police are investigating a possible bomb threat at the Florida Department of Children and Families building in downtown Miami Tuesday.

Miami Police officials said officers responded to the building at 401 Northwest 2nd Avenue after the call was received just before 3 p.m.

The Miami-Dade County Children's Courthouse was evacuated as a result, along with the nearby police department and U.S. Post Office, officials said. The courthouse, post office and police department were later reopened shortly after 5 p.m. but authorities were still searching the DCF building.

Bomb squad officers and fire rescue workers also responded to the scene.

No other information was immediately known.
