Police Link Body Shop Car to Vehicle In Hit-and-Run

The victim was taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center and is in a medically-induced coma

The South Miami Police Department announced they found the car involved in the hit-and-run accident last Friday that left a pedestrian with severe injuries.

Authorities said a silver Mercedes Benz E-320 traveling northeast hit the pedestrian on the morning of April 27 at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and 57th Avenue and continued driving north.

The victim was taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center and is in a medically-induced coma.

Authorities said they were alerted to the location of the silver Mercedes by Pro Collision Center Body Shop in Hialeah. The vehicle had damage consistent with the car described in a hit-and-run, police said. Parts left at the scene also matched parts missing from the vehicle.

The investigation of the incident led police to Zoila Moya and her son Luis Felipe Moya. The duo filed a false insurance claim for the accident, which led to Zoila Moya's arrest, police said. Her 24-year-old son was driving at the time of the accident, police added.

Police have not yet arrested him, and ask anyone who has contact with him to call the South Miami Police Department at 305-663-6301.
