Police Looking for Man Accused of Groping University of Miami Student

University of Miami Police are looking for a man who they say groped a student and fondled himself while following her.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of Ponce de Leon Boulevard, according to a crime alert sent by police Monday.

Police said the student was walking into campus toward the Bank United Center when the man began following her while fondling himself. He came from behind and grabbed the student's buttocks before quickly running from the scene, police said.

"Yeah, I hope they catch him, that's outrageous," student Jessica Torres said Tuesday. "He's going around grabbing everyone. No, that's inappropriate."

A photo of the man was included in the crime alert. Police described him as between 40 and 50 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 with a medium build and long, wavy, light-colored hair worn in a ponytail.

The man was wearing a New York Yankees cap, a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt and light-colored basketball shorts. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

"I'm going to keep my eye out and I'm just going to continue doing what I'm doing and not staying out too late and not walking by myself at night," student Ruth Marius said.
