Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery at Miami-Dade Market

The shootout was caught on camera.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is looking for a man who attempted to rob a food market located at 7606 NW 17th Avenue.

Police said the incident happened at 11:27 p.m. Surveillance footage shows the man walk into the market and immediately pull a gun out of his pocket as he runs to the cash register.

A clerk was was behind the counter runs off-screen to hide. Police say that when the market owner heard what was happening he walked out of the office with a gun.

The suspect shot at the owner and then the owner fired back, police said.

"The subject then fled the business without any property," said Miami-Dade Police Det. Elena Hernandez.

No one was injured in the shooting.

"[The subject] should be considered armed and dangerous. Obviously he was bold enough to come into this food market and try to rob the place at gunpoint," Hernandez said.

Police said the man measures about 5' 10" and is 20 to 30-years-old.
