Father Accused of Abducting Daughter Contacts Police After Seeing Himself on TV; Child Safe: PD

The search for a 4-year-old girl who disappeared with her father Friday has come to an end after she was found safe near St. Petersburg, police say.

According to Opa-Locka PD Chief James Dobson, Joel Delgado saw himself on television late Friday night and contacted Opa-Locka Police Department in reference to his whereabouts and the 4-year-old.

Dobson says the child and Delgado were in Pinellas County. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Department responded to the address the father provided and found the child in good health, unharmed and safe.

The child remains in the care of the father.

Police say Delgado made an agreement with his ex-girlfriend to pick up their daughter on Saturday and return the child on Monday.

Delgado picked the girl up but never returned, police say.

Opa-Locka PD is working with the State Attorney's Office ti determine if any crime was committed or if it was just a custody matter.
