Police Have Surveillance Videos in Shooting Death of Rabbi

Police investigating the murder of Rabbi Joseph Raksin have surveillance videos from homes in the area that contain pertinent information about the suspects in question.

News of the videos comes as the community continues to rally around each other nearly a week after the murder.

“The community has come together like never before,” said resident Orale Kanner. “We are proud of our community. We are proud of the police force. We know that we are all on top of it and it will be taken care of.”

A new flyer published Friday also puts an emphasis on the $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers of Rabbi Raksin. The flyer comes after a community newsletter said investigators are hoping to talk to the driver of silver truck who was in the area at the time of the murder.

In the meantime, police in Northeast Miami-Dade County continue to maintain a high profile in the orthodox Jewish neighborhood. In addition, security guards and others are monitoring the community for anything out of the ordinary less than a week after Raksin’s murder shook the area.

“The murder of a rabbi walking to Schul is a jolt in America, in South Florida where we live so freely, where we have our religious freedom,” said Hava Holzhauer of the Anti-Defamation League.
