Threat at Israeli Consulate Building Cleared

Officers respond to Miami consulate after reports of threat

A possible bomb threat at the building that houses the Israeli Consulate in Downtown Miami Monday morning turned out to be no threat at all.

The FBI said 52-year-old William Rolland was arrested and will face federal charges for giving false information involving a bomb or dangerous device.

Officers had closed off several streets in the area of the building at 100 N. Biscayne Boulevard for about two hours after reports of a man with a briefcase who was reportedly making threats.

Authorities say Rolland made a threat to the security staff at the building but didn't specifically threaten the consulate.

Rolland allegedly threatened to blow up the building before walking away, police said.

Police were called and took the man into custody, leaving his black carryon sitting on the sidewalk for the bomb squad.
