1 Killed, Body Left in Car, in Miami Gardens Shooting: Police

Police say a passenger in a car was shot and killed and their body left in that car in Miami Gardens early Thursday, and it may have all been over an earlier argument at a strip club.

Miami Gardens police confirmed that the victim was shot multiple times in that car at the intersection of Northwest 199th Street and 27th Avenue near Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens at around 4 a.m.

Early Thursday, that car was seen covered by a yellow tarp, indicating that the body was still inside.

A man was seen being put into handcuffs by police and taken away from the scene in the back of a squad car just after 5 a.m. That man was the driver of the car, and police say he is only being detained for questioning at this point and is not in custody.

Just a few blocks up 27th Avenue, investigators found a black Acura riddled with bullet holes with a window shot out. That car was towed and is believed to somehow be connected to the crime. Police have not indicated what connection if any this car has with the shooting.

Detectives say the victim and driver got into a fight earlier at the Mint Lounge Nude Revue adult entertainment establishment located at 2510 Northwest 187th Street in Miami Gardens. That argument may have led to the fatal shooting.

Police are actively working the case, and have not yet released additional details.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
