Authorities Release Description of Vehicle in Deerfield Beach Road Rage Stabbing

Authorities have released a description of the car and suspect they are looking for in connection with a road rage stabbing involving two drivers on I-95 in Deerfield Beach Monday.

Police are looking for a 2000 Dark Gray Mercury Grand Marquis with Florida tag EBAX29 in connection with the incident. Police also say they are looking for the driver of that vehicle, described by police as a black male with long dreadlocks and a beard.

The incident began with an altercation on Southwest 10th Street and ended on I-95, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

According to investigators, the victim and the man who stabbed him did not know each other.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a red Chevy Sonic told authorities she pulled over on the shoulder of the interstate assuming the other driver would just pass them. Instead, investigators said the passenger of the Chevy ended up injured.

"The red vehicle stopped. The second vehicle then stopped behind them. The passenger of the red vehicle got out. The driver of the second vehicle got out and there was an altercation that resulted in the passenger of the red vehicle being stabbed," said Sgt. Mark Wysocky with FHP.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital. However, shortly after the transport, the man was back on scene talking to investigators.

Detectives snapped photos of the couple and also searched for evidence off the highway.

"We have some leads that we're working on to apprehend him. We also have a description of the vehicle," Sgt. Wysocky said.

FHP said it's unclear what type of weapon the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene used when he confronted the other man.

"Anytime that there's some sort of a road rage incident, there's one thing to just let it go. There's no need to retaliate because once you retaliate, the other person retaliates and you never know what can happen," Sgt. Wysocky said.

If you saw anything or have information about this case, you're urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
