A South Florida dad is being called a real butthead after he forgot his young children in the bath tub so he could smoke pot.
According to Miami-Dade police, Aurelio Diaz, 23, found his 11-month-old daughter floating face up in the bathtub last week. Diaz performed CPR and called 911 for help.
Paramedics rushed his kid to the hospital.
But instead of being declared a hero, Diaz is being charged with child neglect because he told cops his attention wasn't on his two children taking a bath, but he was preoccupied smoking marijuana, an arrest report stated.
Diaz told police that he sparked a joint and his daughter and 2-year-old son were in the bathtub.
He said he planned on checking on them every five minutes, but then the pot kicked in and Diaz left the children in the tub for 30 minutes with the water running, according to the police report.
Both kids survived the ordeal and are currently in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
Local
Diaz is being held in jail on $10,000 bond.
