Power Restored After Outage at Aventura Mall

A power outage haled sales at Aventura Mall Friday afternoon, officials said.

The mall wasn't evacuated but no sales transactions could take place and store gates were closed, mall officials said. Workers with Florida Power and Light restored the power about an hour after it went out.

Officials didn't say what may have caused the outage but other outages were reported in the surrounding area.

FPL officials said a total of 3,700 customers were without power in the area Friday afternoon.

Aventura Police said several traffic lights between 178th Street and 213th Street were affected by the outage and were causing heavy traffic delays.

No other information was immediately known.
