Precautionary Advisory for Waterways Lifted in Parts of Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale authorities have lifted the precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities for parts of the city.

The precautionary advisory was issued Thursday to avoid water-related recreational activities in the Middle River and Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale following two sewer main breaks.

After receiving satisfactory test results, officials announced that swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, boating and other water-related recreational activities may be resumed in all inland waterways.

The advisory is still in effect in the area of George English Lake, 1101 Bayview Drive and Himmarshee Canal from the New River to U.S.

City official have announced the reopening of public boat launches located at Cox's Landing, 15th Street Boat Ramp at 1784 SE 15 Street, Cooley's Landing at 450 SW 7 Avenue and Riverland Woods Park at 3950 Riverland Road

The public boat launch at George English Park, 1101 Bayview Drive, remains closed until the precautionary advisory for George English Lake is lifted.

Drinking water has not been affected by the precautionary advisory.
