A pregnant Miami woman was killed Saturday night after she was hit by a car while crossing Kendall Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Cecelia Chinn, 27, and another person were trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Kendall Drive just after 10 p.m. when Chinn was hit by a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt that was heading eastbound in the middle lane, the FHP said.

Chinn, who was seven months pregnant, landed on the hood and hit the windshield before landing on the pavement. She was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died. Her unborn child did not survive.

The driver stayed at the scene, and no charges have been filed.

Chinn had been arrested for grand theft in the Florida Keys in 2008 for allegedly stealing a boat from someone's driveway, according to a Monroe County Sheriff's report
