President Obama Commutes Sentences of 3 Miami Drug Offenders

Three Miami men were among 58 federal drug offenders who had their prison sentences commuted by President Obama Thursday.

Marion Clarence Cooper and Dwayne Berman Cooper had been sentenced to life in prison in 1996 but will now be released on Sept. 2. Alberto A. Rosales, Sr. is serving 70 years in prison from an amended sentence in 1992 but will also be released on Sept. 2.

All three men were convicted on various drug charges and are non-violent offenders.

In March, Obama commuted the sentences of five South Florida drug offenders, including two were were serving life sentences.
