Preview of The Week Ahead: 10/29 – 11/4

There’s plenty happening in South Florida this week, so here’s a preview of The Week Ahead:

Early Voting: Early voting gets underway Monday morning in Miami-Dade County. Registered voters will get their chance to vote in county and special city races in Miami Beach, Hialeah, Homestead and Miami Gardens. The last day for early voting is November 5th.

Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show: The boat show officially kicks off Wednesday in Ft. Lauderdale. More than 1,000 boats from dinghies to 100-foot mega yachts will be on display. It’s open to the public to walk around and have a look. The show runs through next Sunday and tickets start at about $30.

Miami Beach Mayor to Make “Important Announcement”: An “important announcement” is expected Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release. The current Mayor of Miami Beach has kept a tight lid on what he’s announcing at the Wynwood event. But keen political minds believe he may be eyeing a run to be Florida’s next Governor.

Return of King Tide Season: Temperatures might be tumbling, but Mother Nature isn’t done with us just yet. Thursday marks the return of King Tide season to South Florida’s coastal communities. High water marks make for dangerous driving conditions. King Tides will stick around until November 9th.

President Trump Goes to Asia: President Trump will kick off a major foreign trip Friday morning. The Commander-in-Chief will visit Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Hawaii on his 12-day tour of Asia. It’s unclear if the President will stick to the White House’s plan of visiting the demilitarized zone on the Korean peninsula, amid rising tensions with the north.

iPhone X to Be Released Friday: After months of waiting and plenty of internet buzz, the iPhone X launches early Friday morning. Apple promised to ship extra units to stores around the world to meet the high demand. Apple’s newest phone has 3D recognition technology, wireless charging capabilities and an exterior redesign. Pricing for the phone starts at $999.
