Preview of The Week Ahead: 7/2 – 7/8

From fireworks for Independence to an all-star event for America’s past time, there’s plenty happening in South Florida. Here’s a preview of the week ahead:

Mosquito Spraying in Miami-Dade:  Mosquito spraying will be back in full force in Miami-Dade County on Monday. The spraying will take place in Homestead, Florida City, Redland and West Kendall.

Fourth of July: Cities and towns across South Florida are planning cookouts and festivals throughout the entire day, with big shows taking place along the coasts in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Palace Bar on South Beach to Close: After nearly 30 years on South Beach, Palace Bar, which was a gathering point for the neighborhood’s LGBTQ community, is closing its doors. The bar’s owner says it’s less of a farewell and more of a see you soon.

Tiger Woods to Appear in Court: Disgraced golf legend Tiger Woods will be back in a South Florida court room on Wednesday. Woods is facing prosecutors and a judge in Palm Beach County. Woods is facing DUI charges from last month.

G-20 Summit in Germany: World leaders from around the world are making their way to Hamburg, Germany this Friday for the start of the G-20 Summit. Police are preparing for rowdy crowds and plenty of protests ahead of President Trump’s first visit to Germany as Commander-in-Chief.

All-Star Week in Miami: Friday marks the start of the highly-anticipated All-Star Week in Miami. The best players from across Major League Baseball will participate in a number of events, including the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game on July 11th, all taking place at Marlins Park.
