Preview of The Week Ahead: 7/23 – 7/29

From special elections to special practice sessions, there is plenty happening in the next few days in South Florida. Let’s get you ready for The Week Ahead:

Kushner to Speak at Senate Intelligence Committee: Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, will appear before a closed door hearing of the Senate’s Intelligence Committee on Monday. President Trump’s son, Donald Junior, and former campaign director Paul Manafort have also been called to speak to the panel. No word as of yet on when or if they have accepted the request.

Special Primary Elections in Miami-Dade: There are number of special primary elections set for Tuesday. Jose Felix Diaz, Alex Diaz de la Portilla and Lorenzo Palomares will fight for the Republican nomination for a chance to represent Central Miami-Dade in the State Senate. On the Democratic ticket, Ana Logan and Annette Taddeo will go head to head for the nomination.

Spiny Lobster Season Begins: Get your lobster traps ready: spiny lobster sport season begins Wednesday morning. You’re allowed to catch the critters starting Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. until Thursday night.

Wawa to Open Two Locations in South Florida: It’s the gas station that has food lovers all over the country making long lines, and it’s finally opening its doors in South Florida. Wawa will open two locations on Thursday afternoon: one in Davie and another in Deerfield Beach.

Miami-Dade College Teaming Up with FC Barcelona Foundation: On Friday, Miami-Dade College plans to sign an agreement with the FC Barcelona Foundation to launch a one-of-a-kind soccer program called Futbol Net.” The program aims to improve high school student’s academic performance, by using soccer as a new innovative teaching method.

El Clasico Open Practice: Friday is the big open practice session for the “El Clasico” matchup between Barcelona and Real Madrid at Hard Rock Stadium. Tickets for the practice went on sale last week and are still available. The big game is set for Saturday. Tickets for that game cost anywhere from $200 to $3,000.
