Rally Held as Family, Community Seeks Answers in Jada Page Shooting

Family members came together for a rally Thursday night to push for information that will lead to an arrest in the northwest Miami-Dade shooting that claimed the life of little Jada Page.

Mother Rosalind Brown lost her 8-year-old daughter 30 days ago and still the shooter is free.

"We need justice, she was only 8 years old. She was innocent, didn't deserve this, I don't deserve this," Brown said.

Brown was surrounded by friends, family and her community at Thursday's rally. Jada was playing outside her home near Northwest 101st Street and 25th Avenue on August 30 when gunmen pulled up and fired shots. Jada and her father were hit and he survived while she later died.

"Don't just say something when a shooting happens," Miami Gardens mayor Oliver Gilbert said. "If you see strange people on your block, say something, if you know something that looks like narcotics activity, say something, if you know or see groups of people out late at night and look like they might be doing, say something. Don't just say something when violence strikes us."

Brown said she'll be grateful when the person who shot her daughter is found. There was a sign in the skies telling her to hold on to hope.

"I know she's here, smiling down," Brown said. "She came to me in a dream smiling ear to ear."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
