Rapper & Photographer Killed in North Miami

North Miami Police are investigating a double shooting that took the lives of two men early Wednesday morning.

Police said at approximately 1:35 a.m., Justin McAdam, 31, and Kenson Pierre, 22, were shot and killed in front of a home on the 1100 block of NE 133 Street.

Pierre, known also as “Short Kidd,” was an aspiring rapper in his neighborhood which was the setting of many of his music videos. McAdam, better known as JBlanco, was an aspiring photographer who often worked with Pierre.

“He would always bring somebody’s spirit up and we’re going to have to deal with that now he’s not here anymore,” said Merlande Pierre, Kenson’s sister.

Merlande described the shooting, saying everyone was in bed and awoken by the early morning gunshots.

“He was the only one missing, so she (his mother) starts calling his phone; he’s not answering his phone,” Merlande said. “We’re getting worried, but I tell my mother don’t go outside.”

Merlande said JBlanco had called her brother outside minutes before the shooting. North Miami Police said the motive is unclear, as is whether either man was targeted.

“We’re not sure the method that the killer or killers used to approach these two individuals,” said North Miami Police Major Neil Cuevas, “but we do know they were successful.”

Pierre’s sister Merlande said an open laptop was sitting on McAdam’s car and that the two may have been looking at their latest project when they were cut down.

“All these young ones are out here, this is their way of solving problems now…is shooting one another like life is nothing,” Merlande said. “They have family. People have family. Loved ones…now we’re going to have to deal with not having him in our lives anymore.”

If you have any information about the deaths of McAdam and Pierre, call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
