Family Begs For Help After Tourist is Killed in Doral

A family is searching for answers days after their loved one was found dead in a Doral hotel.

At just 25 years old, family members say Theodore Brown had his whole life ahead of him.

"I feel so bad because I wish I was there to protect him," his cousin said. "He was all alone in a hallway, by himself.”

Brown traveled from his home near to Washington D.C. to South Florida, to help cater the Jazz in the Gardens festival.

Early Tuesday morning, a coworker found his body in the hallway of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Investigators say he had been shot.

"I want to know why, why, I mean if they wanted money or anything, he would’ve given them money," Brown's cousin said. "He’s that kindhearted.”

Police are aren’t saying much about the investigation, but are looking for help-- they want tips from the public to help solve this homicide.

Meanwhile, Brown’s family prepares to have his remains returned back home, for a proper burial. They’re trying to think of how he lived his life, not on how he died.

“He had an appetite for food, for music, for family.”

This is only the second homicide to take place in Doral since it’s police department was created back in 2008. Miami-Dade police are investigating.
