Red Light Camera Catches Lead-Foot Local Mayor

West Palm Beach mayor Lois Frankel jumped on the red-light camera bandwagon early, claiming it would make her city's streets safe. We just didn't know they needed to be saved from her.
The lead-foot mayor who was recently caught doing 50 in a school zone was caught red-handed again - this time by the cameras she lobbied to be installed.
According to a video obtained by the Palm Beach Post, Frankel's car is shown running through a red light on March 16. On Thursday, Gov. Charlie Crist signed a law that made it legal for cities to install red light cameras to crack down on people like Frankel.
The mayor has yet to pay the $150 fine that was sent to her in the mail.
Maybe she is waiting to catch another break on a traffic infraction that most of us could only dream of.
In March, Frankel was caught by a city cop going 46 mph in a 15 mph school zone. But the city cop, after realizing it was the head honcho in town, gave Frankel a warning after she apologized for speeding near children.
She should have received a $411 ticket.
Perhaps someone should look into getting Frankel a chauffeur or maybe a bus pass.
Frankel's people say she plans on paying the ticket and has learned a valuable lesson: Be careful what you wish for because you might just get caught by it.
