Human Remains Discovered in Car Found Burning in Weston

Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered in the trunk of a car that was found burning in Weston Monday morning

A charred car has been removed from a remote Weston road after the vehicle was found burning Monday morning and authorities discovered human remains in the car.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the 2500 block of Post Road around 9:30 a.m. where they quickly extinguished the flames, officials said.

But when they searched the trunk of the four-door sedan, they found a body, officials said. The remains haven't been identified.

"We can't tell if it's a male or female or anything else about the remains at this point,” Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said Monday. “The M.E. is on scene and will take custody of those remains to try to make those determinations."

The burned car was eventually removed on a tow truck from the scene, which is on a road with no houses or businesses.

"There is no reason for anyone to really be traveling down this road. Evidently this person, or whoever may have committed this crime, was just trying to hide the crime,” Concepcion said.

The remains were brought to the Broward medical examiner's office in Dania Beach for further investigation and identification.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
