Popular South Florida-Based Alfred Angelo Bridal Retailer Closing: Report

Social media exploded Thursday with reports that a South Florida-based retailer, one of the largest when it comes to bridal gowns, was closing its doors for good.

Alfred Angelo Bridal, a Delray Beach company whose designs are sold in over 1,400 retailers across the world and with more than 60 stores across the United States, is reportedly filing for bankruptcy as several locations posted notices announcing the news following the close of business Thursday.

The company has not issued a statement confirming any store closures or bankruptcy proceedings. Some notices have instructed customers to contact Miami-based attorney Patricia Redmond as 305-789-3553 for more information.

"I thought it has to be a joke," said Teri McKerlie, who is scheduled to get married in January, to NBC affiliate WPTV after arriving at the Boynton Beach location. "It's like there's no way. They would have had to call me or something. But no, I called and they said they were closing."

Other retailers have reached out to help customers who are now left stranded - including David's Bridal, which posted on Facebook that they will offer discounts on dresses for anyone who presents a receipt from Alfred Angelo.
