Police are investigating whether a retired Miami Police Captain was killed in retaliation for sharing information about smuggling along the Miami River with federal agents.
A retired Miami Police Captain was killed execution-style at a marina on the Miami River Friday in what may have been an act of retaliation.
Robert Yee, 61, was working as a security guard at the Hurricane Cove Marina, 1884 NW North River Drive, when he was shot several times in the back of the head at about 12:45 p.m.
Sources are telling The Miami Herald that Yee may have been killed because he was providing tips to federal agents about drug and human smuggling along the river.
Police have issued a bulletin for a short, balding white man with a goatee and a late-model Toyota Corolla.
Yee retired from the Miami Police Department in 1995 after spending 25 years on the force.
One of his daughters was killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2001. A second daughter is an officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
