Family members are hoping an increased reward will help lead them to a driver who struck a U.S. Army reservist in Miami and fled the scene.
Richard Parsons, 22, was crossing Northwest 79th Street at Northwest 32nd Avenue Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a Lincoln, which fled the scene.
Parsons was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a broken leg and other injuries.
"He remembers waking up, he tried to move but he was in so much pain he started screaming," mother Rene Moore said. "That's all he remembers."
Parsons still has swelling in his brain and was in surgery Friday, Moore said.
Moore said Parsons, who has spent a year as an Army reservist, was heading to a job interview when he was struck.
Parsons' family and friends held a news conference Friday to say they're doubling the reward in the case to $2,000.

"I get sick because I can't do anything to help him or ease the pain," she said. "I've never really seen him cry."
Police are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
