Roads Burglary Suspect Arrested, 1 Remains at Large: Police

A man has been arrested in connection to a couple of home burglaries in the Roads neighborhood.

A man has been arrested in connection to two recent home burglaries in which two men stole more than $50,00 worth of jewelry, police said.

Johnny Carvajal, 38, was charged with two counts of unoccupied burglary for the incidents at 540 SW 25 Road and 718 SW 26 Road in the Roads neighborhood, according to Miami Police.

Surveillance video captured Carvajal coming out of the Buick Sedan that matched the description of the burglary vehicle at the Jamaica Motel at 4601 SW 8th St. in Coral Gables, police said.

Once in custody, he told police he took 10 Seiko watches from one of the properties to support his drug habit and that he used a screw driver to pry open the doors of the other home, where he took several tools and a weed wacker, according to an arrest report. Officials said he was wearing one of the watches at the time he was being questioned.

Surveillance video released Thursday had captured two men taking a pillowcase of items, including jewelry valued at over $50,000, from one of the homes Monday.

Two others were arrested at the same time on other charges: 40-year-old Jacqueline Garcia was charged with grand theft auto, 39-year-old Howard Jamie was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant for petit theft, police said. It remains unclear how they were related to the burglaries.

Officials said one suspect remains at large.
