Rock-Tossing Robber Strikes Out

BSO looking for weak-armed burglar caught on video

A rock-tossing robber is going to have to build up his arm strength if he wants to make a career of it.

Police say they're looking for a man who they say is responsible for several burglaries of Pompano Beach businesses where he throws rocks through windows to gain access.

But the weak-armed crook's latest try, captured on surveillance video, won't be impressing Major League scouts anytime soon.

The video, released Thursday by the Broward Sheriff's Office, shows the suspect peeping into the windows of a business in the 1700 block of Northwest 19th Avenue.

Wearing a piece of cloth over his face, the man takes a few steps back and heaves a rock into the window on the business' front door.

When the rock bounces harmlessly off the window, the man picks it up and walks away defeated.

Police describe the man as a thin male in his early 20s who was wearing a black tank top, long red shorts and black sneakers during the latest attempt.

Detectives think he lives in the area near the businesses, and is responsible for similar and more successful rock-throwing robberies.
