Authorities say rumors of a massive roundup by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in South Florida that quickly spread on social media Wednesday were completely false.
A spokesman for ICE said the posts that claimed immigration arrests were taking place in parts of Miami-Dade and Miami Beach were a hoax. The posts were using photos of Department of Homeland Security buses that was actually from 2015.
Miami Beach Police also quashed the rumors of a roundup on Twitter.
"Contrary to rumors being shared, MBPD has confirmed with @DHSgov that there is NO immigration operation currently underway in Miami Beach," the tweet read.
