Authorities are investigating after the body of a Scuba diver was found in the Atlantic Ocean near Dania Beach Sunday afternoon.

A fisherman discovered the body about a half mile northeast of the Dania Beach Pier, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

BSO's marine unit retrieved the body, which was clad in Scuba gear and had a dive tank around 2:25 p.m.

The victim was later identified as 48-year-old David Lemonds, from Aiken, South Carolina.

The Broward Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
