Sea Turtles Rescued From Fort Lauderdale Storm Drains

A group of baby sea turtles were rescued after they were found stranded in storm drains in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday night.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Ladder 13 responded to the 1200 block of North Atlantic Boulevard after receiving a request for an animal rescue, officials said.

As they searched the storm drains with the help of Broward County Sea Turtle Rescue, they found the turtles struggling to free themselves. The turtles were unharmed and left in the care of the turtle organization.

Officials say turtle hatchlings get disoriented and wander in the wrong direction this time of year.
