Seattle Seahawks Offensive Lineman & FIU Alumni Caylin Hauptmann to Play in Super Bowl

Caylin Hauptmann will become the second former FIU player to play in a Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann is Florida International University's second alumni to compete for the Vince Lombardi Trophy in a Super Bowl.

“It’s a great feeling. It truly is a blessing to be a part of this team and to have this kind of season. It was great beating the 49ers in the NFC Championship, but we’re focused on the Broncos now and finishing our season the right way,” Hauptmann told FIU Sports.

In 2013, Hauptmann spent his preseason in Cleveland and was later released. He was then signed as a free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2013.

Hauptmann is the second FIU alumni to make it to the Super Bowl. In 2007, Nick Turnbull played for the Chicago Bears vs. the Indianapolis Colts during Super Bowl XLI in Miami.

“It’s an honor to represent FIU anytime. I’m happy to be a part of history just like I’m sure Nick is proud to be the first FIU player in a Super Bowl. I tell you what, it’s a hell of a feeling,” Hauptmann said.

Super Bowl XLVIII will take place on Feb. 2. as the Seattle Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos in New Jersey.
