Second Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens in Miami-Dade County

South Florida opened a new medical marijuana dispensary Wednesday – less than six months after the drug was approved in the state.

The facility, called Trulieve, is located near Miami International Airport and offers an assortment of low THC and high THC products, the chemical in marijuana that produces the feeling of being high.

"It's one of our responsibilities to be the first in the state to be purposeful in how we present medical cannabis not only to our patients but the public in general," said Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers.

There's already a medical marijuana production lab and dispensary in the Redlands – the first one opened in all of South Florida. More medical marijuana is expected to be available in oil and tincture form. Smoke-able marijuana is still not allowed under Florida law.

Legal wrangling over more access to medical marijuana in Tallahassee right now continues after 71 percent of Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment allowing marijuana to be used for a wider list of medical ailments - ranging from cancer to HIV, Crohn's and Parkinson's Disease, PTSD and more.
