Seminole Tribe Votes to Remove Chairman James Billie From Office

The Seminole Tribe of Florida has voted to remove Chairman James Billie from office following a recall petition.

The tribal council voted 4-0 Wednesday morning to remove Billie, effective immediately. A special election will be held within 30 days to elect a new chairman.

Billie has served as tribe chairman since 2011 and was re-elected last year. The recall petition cited various issues with policies and procedures from Billie's office.
