The Seminole Tribe of Florida is telling state officials it has no plans to end blackjack and other card games at its casinos.
The tribe's 2010 deal with the state allowed the Seminoles to offer blackjack at five of its seven casinos for five years. Attempts to renew the compact in the last year have floundered.
Tribal leaders on Wednesday sent letters to Gov. Rick Scott and legislative leaders. That letter maintains that state regulators violated the gambling agreement by allowing South Florida tracks to offer electronic versions of card games. Tribal officials said that means they can keep their blackjack card tables in operation.
That letter calls for the state and tribal officials to meet in the next 30 days to try to resolve the dispute.
