Serial Arsonist Torched Neighbors' Cars: Hialeah Police

A serial arsonist who has been lighting his neighbors' vehicles on fire in Hialeah was arrested after torching his girlfriend's car, police said.

Armando Hernandez, 51, was arrested late Wednesday after undercover detectives spotted him lighting his girlfriend's Jaguar on fire, Hialeah Police officials said.

Hernandez faces eight felony arson charges. He was being booked into jail Thursday and it's unknown whether he has an attorney.

According to police, Hernandez has been terrorizing his neighborhood within the last few weeks, torching  seven vehicles and throwing an incendiary device into a neighbor's yard.

Hernandez has been living in the neighborhood for the past month with his girlfriend, who is a long time resident.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the crimes.
