Several Injured in Crash After Car Tries to Flee From Police

Police did not immediately say why they were attempting to stop the car.

Several people were injured after a car fleeing police crashed into another vehicle in Miami Monday afternoon, according to officials.

Miami-Dade Police said an officer was trying to stop a vehicle involved in a robbery when that car fled. The officer did not pursue the robbery vehicle, but as it fled it ran a red light, and caused another car to slam into a third car, police said. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a car at Northwest 46th Street and 17th Avenue, police said.

Aerial footage shows the wreckage of that car resting on the front of a nearby lawn after it crashed through the fence and caught fire.

The five people in the suspected robbery vehicle, including a child, had to be extracted and were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center in mostly serious but stable condition, police said. The two people in the car it crashed into were treated on scene.

No further details were immediately available.
