Sexual Battery Suspect Filmed Himself Having Sex With Sleeping Woman: Miami Police

Omar Ventura Blandino Rivera, 34, faces two charges, police said

A South Florida man who sexually battered a woman after taking her home from a party said he filmed himself having sex with her while she was “sleeping or unconscious,” according to Miami Police.

She was asleep because she was drunk, Omar Ventura Blandino Rivera, 34, told police. The victim said he gave her an orange juice on the way home from a party, and didn’t remember anything after that until she woke up naked in his bed with semen on her right buttocks, police said in an arrest affidavit.

Blandino Rivera faces charges of sexual battery on a physically helpless victim and video voyeurism, police said. He smiled as Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jose Fernandez read the first charge against him in bond court Thursday.

Fernandez increased Blandino Rivera's bond to $45,000. But he is also being kept in custody on an immigration hold at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, online Miami-Dade Corrections records said. The judge appointed a public defender to represent Blandino Rivera, who indicated he cannot afford to hire a lawyer.

The victim said she went to a party in Hialeah on Dec. 1 with friends including Blandino Rivera. She wasn’t feeling well after having two glasses of wine, and as Blandino Rivera gave her a ride from the party, he insisted she drink an orange juice he bought at a gas station, saying it would make her feel better, though she did not want to drink it, the affidavit said.

She woke up the next morning in his efficiency on the 2100 block of Northwest 13th Street in Miami, and he didn’t answer her when she asked what she doing there, the affidavit said.

The victim said she suspects Blandino Rivera might have put “something in the orange juice that knocked her out,” causing her not to remember anything, the affidavit said.

The victim said she was afraid to come forward because he threatened to report her to immigration – but Blandino Rivera’s girlfriend told her that she saw a video where he and the victim were having sex, according to the affidavit.

When the girlfriend saw the video, she confronted the accuser, Miami Police spokesman Rene Pimentel said.

"The girlfriend's irate, calls the victim, and the victim now realizes it is a fact, that I was raped, because I had no recollection of that," he said.

The victim then reported the incident to police.

Blandino Rivera told police that he and the woman had consensual sex three times. He said she did not know he was filming her as he had sex with her the second time, and showed police the video, the affidavit said.

Blandino Rivera said in court that he has four children in his home country, which the affidavit said is Honduras. He is currently a Hialeah resident, according to the affidavit.

The judge ordered Blandino Rivera to stay away from the victim.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the case to call the Miami Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at 305-603-6300, or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
