The Broward Sheriff’s Office continued Thursday night looking for a man who got into a heated argument and then began firing shots at a man that wound up hitting homes in a North Lauderdale neighborhood.
“I heard fire and it was like fire,” said Nate Rodriguez. “It was gunshots. But my grandmother fell on the floor.”
“They (the kids) weren’t in the room and they happened to be on just this side of the door,” said Nate’s mother, Natalia. “So if they happened to be any closer to the door; then they would have gotten hit.”
The shooter was captured on surveillance video at a QuickStop a few blocks away from the home. BSO said he got into a heated argument with another man, Derek Stovall, which continued as both went into a residential neighborhood.
Stovall was shot in the arm during the fracas.
“I saw one guy get out of the car, go to the trunk, and that’s when they started shooting at us,” Stovall told NBC 6.
Detectives said the man also fired a shot that went into the SUV of a family with three kids inside. The bullet went into the SUV and ended up in the headlight of the vehicle.
“I can’t imagine being a parent and knowing death came that close to my child,” Dani Moschella of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
If you know who the shooter is, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
