    A man was hospitalized after a drive-by shooting outside a luxury high-rise building in Sunrise Thursday night.

    The shooting happened around 8 p.m. outside the Tao apartments in the 2600 block of Flamingo Road just down the street from the Sawgrass Mills Mall.

    Sunrise Police said two men were standing outside the building when a someone in a car showed up and opened fire several times.

    One of the men, identified as 31-year-old Rodney Nelfort, was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center with very serious injuries. The other man wasn't injured.

    Police said they are looking for a dark colored vehicle seen leaving the scene that may have been involved in the incident.

    Residents of the building said they were shocked to hear that such a violent shooting could happen right outside their front door.

    "It's crazy, just shows me that anything can happen anywhere, you gotta watch out wherever you are because this is actually a very nice place and it's supposed to be a luxury place to live," resident Matt Herman said.

    Police are still investigating the shooting.
