Shooting at South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach Leads to Lockdown

Fight led to two victims being shot near entrance gate.

Individuals enjoying the South Florida Fair in Palm Beach County saw their good times come to a frightening end late Saturday night with a double shooting that forced police to lockdown the fairgrounds as they looked for the shooter.

Police says the shootings took place just inside an entrance gate as a result of a fight between a few individuals at around midnight.

Two victims were shot; one was air lifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center while the other was taken to Wellington Regional Medical Center. Neither had life-threatening injuries, police said.

After the shooting, police closed the exits to the fair as they looked for the suspect but started letting fairgoers leave about an hour later at 1 a.m.

At 9 a.m. police spokesperson Terry Barbera said the suspect still had not been found.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
