A man was arrested after a McDonald's in Northwest Miami-Dade was the scene of a shooting Saturday.
According to eyewitness reports, the incident in the McDonald's at 80th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue began as an argument between two men. The argument began to escalate and then one of the men shot the other.
Witnesses to the encounter said the shooter used a small handgun and that the gunshots caused a panic.
"Me and my girlfriend were behind them and they were arguing and talking," one witness said. "And they pulled out a gun and said 'I will kill you right here.'"
Devin Pernell Gibbs, 23, was arrested in the shooting, police said.
According to an arrest report, Gibbs said he shot the victim, 65-year-old Ledea Phillip, because he was threatened because Phillip was calling him derogatory names.
Gibbs was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm and shooting a deadly missile.

Police booked Gibbs into jail Saturday, where he was being held on $22,500 bond. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.
"Our first priority is always the safety of our customers and employees. As this is an active police investigation, we ask that you contact the Miami-Dade County Police Department for additional details," a McDonald's spokesperson said in a statement.
