Skateboarder Struck By BSO Deputy in Oakland Park

A skateboarder was hospitalized after he was struck by a Broward Sheriff's deputy in Oakland Park Tuesday morning, officials said.

The crash happened in the area of Andrews Avenue and Commercial Boulevard just before 6 a.m. when the deputy, who was in a marked police cruiser struck the adult male skateboarder, BSO officials said.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue took the man to Broward Health Medical Center, where his condition was unknown. The deputy wasn't injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
